Stiles stands in solidarity with striking public sector workers

QUEEN’S PARK – Marit Stiles, the Leader of Ontario’s Official Opposition NDP, released the following statement as the Public Service Alliance of Canada (PSAC) strike enters day three:

“The federal government needs to come to the table with a fair offer for the public sector workers who go above and beyond for Canadians – especially during the pandemic.

Many PSAC workers are women in positions that earn between $30,000 and $60,000 – and this government is trying to force them to take an inflationary cut during an affordability crisis.

And to make matters worse, they have been without a contract for two years.

Ontario’s NDP stands in solidarity with public sector workers, including PSAC’s 30,000 members in Ontario, as they show their collective strength to demand better from this government.

The workers, united, will never be defeated.”
