West again calls on Ford to four-lane Highway 69 on heels of August collisions

QUEEN’s PARK – Jamie West, NDP MPP for Sudbury, is again calling on Doug Ford to stop delaying the four-laning of Highway 69 following three collisions in the span of 15 days in August that resulted in multiple injuries and one preventable death. West released the following statement:

“Four-laning Highway 69 will save lives, but not one kilometre has been tendered since 2018, let alone the 68 kilometres Doug Ford promised. Meanwhile, preventable accidents continue, and people continue to be injured and killed.

The Liberals promised to complete this for nearly two decades and couldn’t get it done. More than four years on the job and the Conservatives haven’t even tendered a single kilometre yet.

The good people of Sudbury are fed-up – with broken Liberal promises and Doug Ford’s empty words. If Mr. Ford can’t keep his promise, then he should commit to meeting the families who’ve lost loved ones on Highway 69 and explain why he won’t get the job done.”
