Job Summary

The Ontario New Democratic Party seeks energetic and organized individual(s) with strong interpersonal skills to be part of our Voter Outreach Team during the pre-election and election period. We’re looking for progressively minded, passionate, and self-driven individuals to become the next generation of organizers to build our local campaign teams and help us work towards an Ontario that includes everyone.

Under the supervision of the Provincial Director and Director of Outreach, this position is tasked with delivering the Ontario NDP message in person, door-to-door, and/or over the phone with a focus on reaching out directly to voters and accurately tracking their response. You will be using your experience and skills to also mentor, train and lead volunteers in voter outreach.

DUTIES

  • As members of the Voter Outreach Team, you will have hands-on experience contacting voters door-to-door or over the phone to discuss the provincial election and persuade voters to vote for the Ontario NDP.
  • Utilize voter contact lists provided by your Regional Organizer or Campaign Organizer.
  • Collect and confirm data based on each individual conversation with voters.
  • Meet the individual and team targets set out for the organizing team with respect to voter contact in ridings.
  • Work to achieve and exceed voter outreach targets.
  • To be friendly, polite, informed and knowledgeable.
  • Handle sensitive and confidential information and abide by the Ontario NDP Non-Disclosure Agreement.
  • Other related duties as required.

QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE

  • Demonstrated skill and recent success in canvassing.
  • Previous experience in campaigns, door-to-door sales or telemarketing is an asset.
  • Ability to encourage, motivate and work well with volunteers.
  • Knowledge of the policies, practices and structures of the Ontario NDP.
  • Excellent judgement, a polite, engaging and enthusiastic manner.

SKILLS

  • Strong organizational, communication and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team dynamic
  • Ability to take direction and initiative as appropriate
  • Willingness to work irregular hours, including evenings and weekends
  • A willingness to travel as required, often on short notice, and a valid driver’s license and car.
  • Working knowledge of French or fluency in another language an asset.

TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT

This position is compensated as per Appendix IV of the ONDP Collective Agreement. Starting wage is $17.99/hour.

The ONDP has an office at 2069 Lakeshore Blvd West, but this work will be across Ontario.
