Trent University recently announced a large deficit, prompting future cuts to programs. During the same week, Fleming College and St. Lawrence College announced a merger given budget constraints. All of these institutions serve as major community hubs, centres of learning, and employers for Peterborough.

It is not clear what the impact of these financial difficulties and institutional changes will be on students, faculty, and the community. But its clear what the cause is: Doug Ford continues to underfund Ontario’s Post-Secondary Education system.
