Bombardier jobs must be saved: MPP Monteith-Farrell

QUEEN’S PARK – Doug Ford needs to tell 200 Bombardier workers if he’ll do anything at all to save their jobs in Thunder Bay, said NDP MPP for Thunder Bay – Atikokan, Judith Monteith-Farrell, during question period Monday.

“Premier, 200 workers at the Bombardier plant are losing their jobs this fall. Toronto needs new streetcars and subways. We can make them in Thunder Bay,” said Monteith-Farrell.

“What is this government going to do to keep the plant running, and put Bombardier staff back to work?”

Monteith-Farrell said over 1,000 people were working at the Bombardier plant last summer, but that number has since declined sharply with more layoffs expected.

“The Ford government needs a strategy to get the plant running back at full capacity,” said Monteith-Farrell. “This government needs to ensure the Bombardier plant has the transit orders it needs so workers can get their jobs back.”
